Chevrolet Cruze

The U.S.-spec Chevrolet Cruze has been unveiled prior to its world debut at the 2009 LA Auto Show on Dec. 2. The 2010 Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan, which will replace the Chevy Cobalt, will go on sale in the third quarter of 2010 and will be built at GM’s Lordstown Ohio assembly plant.

The five-door, front-wheel-drive Cruze will be available in three different trim levels (LS, LT and LTZ) and two engine choices. The base LS model will be powered by a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine, while the LT and LTZ model will get a 1.4L turbo Ecotec engine with 138-hp and a maximum torque of 148 lb-ft.

All 2011 Cruze models will be available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. GM says that the 1.4L turbo models will have a cruising range of more than 500 miles and are expected to get a segment-best EPA fuel-economy rating of 40 mpg on the highway.

The 2011 Cruze will have a more spacious interior and greater cargo room. Standard interior options will include a stereo system with MP3 playback capability, 6-speakers and an AUX jack for personal MP3 players.

A premium Pioneer sound system is available as an option with a USB port for iPod connectivity. Other options available are: Bluetooth and a navigation system. On the outside, 16 inch wheels are standard on LS and LT models and 17-inch alloy wheels are standard on the LTZ model. 18-inch alloy wheels are available as an option on 2LT and LTZ models.

Pricing details on the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze will be announced closer to launch date.
