At the Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes unveiled its first ever hybrid diesel model. The E300 BlueTEC combines a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine developing 204hp with a powerful hybrid module. Sales will begin at the end of 2011.

The 4-cylinder diesel engine in combination with a 15 KW compact electric motor deliver a total of 224 hp and a torque of over 580 Nm, and that’s with a fuel consumption of 4.1 liters of fuel per 100 km (NEDC), equivalent to CO2 emissions of 109 g/km.

The electric motor gets its energy from a high-voltage, lithium-ion battery, which has already proven itself in the S 400 Hybrid.
