Brabus, the German tuner has upgraded the Mercedes -Benz E-Class Coupe, giving it a whopping 788bhp with a V12 Biturbo engine.

Brabus calls its creation the EV12 Coupe Gran Turismo, and the car is capable of producing 788bhp and an incredible 1420Nm of torque. This allows the Brabus EV12 Gran Turismo to go from 0-100km/h in under 4 seconds, 0-200km/h in 9.9 seconds, 0-300km/h in 23.9 seconds, and reach its electronically-limited top speed of 350km/h.

Brabus upgraded the Mercedes-Benz’s 5.5-litre V12 to 6.3-litres, by installing a new crankshaft, larger cylinder bore and bigger pistons, as well as tinkering with the electronics, and of course, by adding its twin-turbo, called the Brabus SV12R Biturbo.

With the 5-speed automatic transmission, the power is transmitted that has been reinforced and enhanced with a high-performance limited slip differential for the rear-wheel drive system. Brabus has also installed a new air intake system and a stainless-steel sport exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts.

Brabus has also given the EV12 a new body kit made from carbon fibre, with the front sports fender with integrated air vents helping to reduce aerodynamic lift. Integrated LED daytime running lights and a coil-over suspension with adjustable ride height are also among the modifications, as are high-performance brakes and 19-inch rims

Mercedes has announced that it will launch its 2011 S63 AMG in September this year. The sports sedan is powered by a newly developed AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine with a peak output of up to 544 to 571 hp and maximum torque of up to 900 NM.

Newly developed engine will have a fuel consumption of 10.5-litre per 100 kilometers, 25% less than the current S63 AM. With the new engine, the S63 AMG makes the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 4,5 seconds, and top speed is limited to 155 mph. But if you add a new AMG Performance package, the 0 to 60 mph sprint will be made in 4,4 seconds, and top speed will go up to 186 mph.

For the new sports sedan, Mercedes has also developed a new MCT 7-speed sports transmission with Controlled Efficiency mode and start/stop function.

For the 2010 model year, the Hyundai Genesis sedan is being updated with available convenience options like Smart Cruise Control, touch-screen navigation and an electronic parking brake with a very convenient automatic vehicle hold. The luxury sedan will have a bargain priced on sale starting from $33,800 for the base model 3.8L V6 powered version.

The 3.8 Litre DOHC Lambda V6 engine delivers a maximum output of 290 HP and 264 lb-ft of torque thanks to its Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) system on both the intake and exhaust cam shafts as well as a new Variable Intake System (VIS) that helps the cylinders breathe more efficiently throughout its entire RPM range.

The 4.6 Liter Tau V8 engine delivers a maximum of 375 HP and is mated to a ZF built 6 speed automatic transmission complete with SHIFTRONIC manual shift control.

The Genesis, for the 2010 model year, comes equipped with intelligent cruise control and an electronic parking brake on Technology Package equipped models, while the Ultra-premium leather seating surfaces come standard on the 3.8 Liter Genesis models with Premium, Premium Navigation, and Technology Packages.

Acura has announced that it will make the debut of its much awaited TSX Sport Wagon at the New York International Auto Show on March 31, 2010.

The TSX Sport Wagon offers a new solution to modern utility needs with its balanced and efficient performance coupled with bold styling and versatile cargo capabilities.

The Sport Wagon will join the TSX lineup, which already includes the 4-cylinder and V6-powered sports sedans.

Luxgen MPV by Taiwanese company Yulon Motor, is basically licensed an older Renault Espace chassis as the base for a 4,800mm long MPV using a 200 horsepower 2.2 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder to lug up to 7 people around. The name Luxgen is derived from combining the words Luxury and Genius and is meant to reflect the qualities that Yulon have attempted to build into the MPV.

In early 2009, the company revealed that the centerpiece of the MPV would be an advanced in-car computer system powered by Microsoft Windows CE with features such as night vision. The Taiwanese have massive experience in the electronics industry and Windows CE should be no stranger to them. And this month, Yulon has also revealed more information on their Taiwanese ‘iDrive’.

Luxgen’s in-car computer will be called the Think+, and it was developed by HTC. HTC is a very big name in smartphones running on Microsoft and Google platforms. The Think+ system by HTC runs on the new Windows CE Automotive operating system. It can do in-car audio/video, telecommunications, GPS navigation, safety alerts, run apps, and control vehicle settings.

Think+ also consist of a few driver assist systems, which includes Eagle View+ which is a 360 degree camera, Night Vision+ which is a night vision system that probably uses infrared cams, and LDWS+ which is a Lane Departure Warning System.

Luxgen also has a 2nd model coming up – an SUV.

Nissan has revealed its new Micra, or March in Asian markets, city car at the Geneva Motor Show, which will be in the market for sale later this market.

According to Nissan designer Makoto Yamane, the fourth generation Micra/March is set to be a truly global car, with Nissan planning to sell the city car in 160 different markets worldwide. Its face had to look stylish and have an air of sophistication to it.

The new Micra feature body-colored mouldings, a larger front bumper with one-piece radiator grille, and a flatter rear, but otherwise retain the same general shape as its predecessor.

Nissan has also made the car “slightly longer and marginally lower”, which results in a longer wheelbase, and thus an increase in cabin space, while still retaining a tight turning radius of 4.5 metres.

According to market, the engine choices may vary but Europe will only get two engines. The first is a brand new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 78bhp and 108Nm of torque. The other is a supercharged direct injection 1.2-litre engine with start/stop function that produces 96bhp and 142Nm of torque. The Micra comes with either a five-speed manual transmission or a new CVT unit.

The new Micra has been loaded with equipments such as the Nissan Connect touch-screen infotainment unit, sat-nav, glass roof, and the intelligent key. There are also reverse sensors, and a parking assist system with three settings to help amateur, normal, and expert drivers squeeze into tight parking spots.

The new Micra/March will go on sale in Thailand later this month, with other markets expected to get the car shortly after. European sales will commence in November.

Aston Martin has announced their new customization program at the Geneva Motor Show, alongside two special editions of their cars.

The new customization program, called as Works Service Tailored, focuses on fashioning color and materials with limitless boundaries precisely to customer choice and specification, enabling owners to apply their own personal taste.” An Aston Martin Rapide in Magma Red and a DB9 in Blue Pearl White was showcased at Geneva to mark the launch of the program.

Aston Martin has also revealed its two special editions at the Show. The first of which was the V12 Vantage Carbon Black edition, which features unique metallic paint, carbon fibre side strakes, and black diamond turned alloy wheels. The interior of the Carbon Black edition has carbon fibre sill plates with “V12 Vantage Carbon Black” etched in stainless steel.

And the other special edition that launched at Geneva was the DBS UB-2010, which was produced to commemorate Dr Ulrich Bez’s 10 years as Aston Martin’s CEO.

The DBS UB-2010 features ‘Azurite Black’ paint, metallic bronze leather with woven leather seat inserts, Cryptic Titan trim, and sill plates signed by Bez. The UB-2010 will be limited to 40 units, 20 coupes and 20 Volantes convertibles.

Ford will be releasing the new Ford Fiesta that will add a Sportier aura to the small hatchback, which Ford sought-after ST and RS versions of the Fiesta to release in other countries with the exception of its motherland, the USA.

If any person will have these Fiestas in their countries will also have a new Sport+ package available – only for the three-doors version, though – with a choice of 120 hp 1.6-litre Duratec TiVCT petrol engine or 95 hp 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine.

The exterior gets a specially designed front bumper, sporty side skirts, a large rear spoiler and a rear bumper with integrated diffuser. The car is painted in ’Frozen White’ matched with Performance Blue GT stripes on the roof and bonnet or ’Performance Blue’ finished with white stripes. The sporty package is finished by 17-inch large alloy wheels.

The interior gets sports leather seats with standard side-airbags and a black full-leather steering wheel.

BMW unveiled its ActiveHybrid5 Concept at the Geneva Motor Show, putting it in the latest addition to BMW’s EfficientDynamics division.

The ActiveHybrid5 will feature a hybrid system that consists of a straight-six petrol engine with TwinPower Turbo technology and 40kW electric motor, which is powered by a high-powered battery at the rear of the car, mated to an 8-speed gearbox that is connected to the system by an automatic clutch.

According to BMW, the system reduces fuel consumption by 10%, while retaining the car’s driving dynamics.

The ActiveHybrid5 also features a special hybrid start/stop function and a brake energy regeneration function similar to existing BMW systems. However, the system in the ActiveHybrid5 is said to be more efficient, and the energy can be used for powering the car or to operate some functions such as the climate control system which can be activated by remote even before the engine is started.

Accordingly, the system is also intelligent enough to analyse the driving condition ahead of time and make energy and fuel-saving decisions. For example it can detect that a downhill section of an autobahn lies ahead and thus controls the charge level of the battery so as to regain brake energy upfront with maximum efficiency.

NVL Solar brought its own version of the four-seater electric car this year, with the release of NLV Quant in 2009 at the Geneva Motor Show. According to the official details, the 2010 NLV Quant will be fully engineered and ready for production.

“The design, drive system, range and photovoltaics of the Quant are already spectacular and record-breaking as individual components, and we believe that together they will mark a milestone in automotive history.”

The NLV Quant has two different battery systems, a torque vectoring with 4 electric motors and a full carbon chassis. The 4 electric engines deliver a total of 800 hp and a peak torque of 1500 NM.

A thin-film coated photvoltaic car body supplies the operating electronics and also supports the battery. And its gull-wing doors provide easy access to all four passengers.

The electric car has a total weight of 1680 kg and sprints from 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, while top speed goes up to 234 mph.
