The Hyundai i10 has an additional variant in Malaysia, which is equipped with the more modern and powerful twin cam 1.25 liter Kappa family engine, supplementing the 1.1-litre SOHC and does not replace it in the Malaysian line-up.

The engine complies with Euro 4 emissions regulations and produces 80 PS and 112Nm of torque compared to the 1.1-litre Epsilon single cam engine’s 66PS.

New aluminium alloy Kappa engine has two available version, one is a lower powered 1,197cc with a shorter stroke, but we are getting the European spec 1,248cc version, hence the 1.25 liter displacement instead of just 1.2 liter.

All Kappa engines are twin cam, 16 valves, use distributor less ignition, lightweight ECOFORM pistons, and feature an EPS power steering system. The engine is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The i10 (1.25l Kappa) is CKD assembled and is priced at RM49, 688 (OTR) for the standard spec and RM52, 688 (OTR) for the high spec (adds 2 airbags and ABS brakes) in West Malaysia and comes with a 5 years warranty or 300,000km extended warranty.

The Kappa model also has two exclusive colours not available on the 1.1 liter – Oyster Grey and Deep Sea Blue.

Jeep has unveiled the details and pictures of its all new Grand Cherokee off-roader, which is expected to go on sale at last of this year.

Mercedes-Benz M-Class based new Grand Cherokee was firstly showcased at the New York Motor Show in April. The car is bigger than its predecessor all round, which translates to improved comfort for occupants, increased knee and leg room for rear passengers, bigger door openings for better access, and a bigger boot capacity.

The new Grand Cherokee will be offered with two engine choices. The first entry-level unit is a Pentastar 3.6-litre V6 engine that produces 280bhp and 353Nm of torque, and replaces the outgoing 3.7-litre V6 powerplant.

The other engine is a 5.7-litre Hemi V8 that churns out 360bhp and 520Nm of torque. Jeep also disclosed that a diesel version will be offered for markets outside the US, but declined to provide details.

The Grand Cherokee features three different four-wheel drive systems, a Land Rover-like Selec-Terrain system with five different modes, Sand/Mud, Sport, Auto, Snow, and Rock, and an available Quadra-Lift air suspension system which can either raise the vehicle for maximum ground clearance or lower it for improved aerodynamics.

Interior, Jeep has also offered the lavish equipments for the Grand Cherokee, along with the options such as a Command View panoramic sunroof, and a power operated rear tailgate available. The Overland trim level throws in a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, four-way power lumbar controls, rain-sensing wipers, Keyless Go, a rear-view camera and a power tilt/telescoping steering column with memory.
