Auto Coupe: Hyundai Genesis Coupe at the 2009 South Florida International Auto Show.

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Hyundai is stepping up for this year’s SEMA show with a mid mounted Tau V8 powered genesis Coupe being prepared by none other than Rhys Millen himself, and while the new car is supposed to be a bit of a sleeper.

The Tskuba Red coupe wears a Kenstyle body kit that gives the Korean car an aggressive blend of Japanese style without going over the top in the traditional ricer fashion. Big wings are absent, and the hood mounted front spoiler goes almost unnoticed.

The grille opening has been enlarged and the front bumper opens up wider, framing the Mobis front mount intercooler nicely and making the new Coupe seem much more stable.

The new rear end compliments the front end nicely, making the Genesis Coupe look much more planted on the ground. At the back, the oversized quartet of tailpipes look like it could have been lifted straight off of a Nissan GT-R.

The HKS Genesis Coupe has a set of 19 inch Volk Racing rims, some of the finest aftermarket wheels available anywhere.

Housed inside of the upgraded rolling stocks are a set of multi piston Brembo brake calipers that are ready to bring the Coupe to a hasty halt.

Auto Engine: New 1.2 litre TSI engine for the Volkswagen Polo and Golf

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Volkswagen is offering a new 1.2 litre TSI engine for the Golf and Polo hatchbacks, designed for low fuel consumption and emissions.

Volkswagen Polo and Golf, mated with the 1.2 litre TSI engine, produces 103bhp and 175Nm of torque, and will be fitted to the Polo, Golf and Golf Plus models.

The new 1.2 litre TSI engine is based on an aluminium crankcase and the re-tuned direct injection provides smooth power development, low consumption and low emissions.

Volkswagen’s TSI engine technology marks its efforts for the smaller capacity cars. Volkswagen claims that TSI engines are highly efficient and low in emissions, by equipping the engines with a turbocharger.

The new 1.2 litre unit also uses friction optimization and lightweight construction to keep weight down and add to the efficiency of the engine and cars.

And the 1.4 litre TSI engine, the biggest, has already been awarded as the “Engine of the Year” award three years in a row since 2006.
