2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder

2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder

The Porsche Boxster line-up will have a new member in December at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The new Boxster Spyder will only weight 2,811 lb becoming the lightest model throughout the entire range of Porsche cars. Sales will begin in February 2010 at a price of 63,404 Euro.

Porsche placed a 3.4-liter six-cylinder with Direct Fuel Injection upfront of the rear axle. It delivers a total of 320 bhp – with 10 bhp more than the current top version of the Boster line-up, the Boxster S.

The Boxster Spyder comes equipped with PDK and the Sports Chrono Package reducing its fuel consumption to 30.4 mpg. The car sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds and can hit a top speed of 166 mph.

Equipped with PDK Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe and the Sports Chrono Package, the new Spyder, using Launch Control, accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. Again with optional PDK, fuel consumption is a mere 9.3 litres on 100 kilometres (equal to 30.4 mpg imp) in the NEDC New European Driving Cycle. Top speed, in turn, is 267 km/h or 166 mph – with the roof open.

Market introduction of the new Porsche Boxster Spyder will start worldwide in February 2010. The base price in the Euro countries is 53,100 Euro. Including 19 per cent VAT and national specifications, the market price of the new Porsche Boxster Spyder is 63,404 Euro.

Future Platforms: Future Chrysler and Lancia Models to Share Platforms

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

New owner of Chrysler at Fiat announced that the Chrysler brand would be under the stewardship of Lancia brand head Olivier Francois, clarifying why these two cars will share the product platforms in the future.

Lancia get a redesigned version of the 300C as a new flagship, replacing the unattractive Thesis. And the Chrysler’s first Lancia-based product is likely to be a small premium hatchback.

The Lancia brand is also scheduled to get a version of whatever the Chrysler/Fiat alliance can dream up to replace the Sebring.

So far, it looks like Fiat is likely to benefit more from this relationship than Chrysler, although we’re not sure if you can classify hand-me-down Chrysler products as a good thing. Still, the 300C is one of the best things to come out of Chrysler in recent history and its easy to see why Lancia wants it.

Fiat has declared that it wants to make Chrysler a brand that can take on Cadillac that Francois certainly has his work cut out for him.

Francois has, however, proven to be quite good at changing perceptions, which have restored faith in one-struggling Lancia brand.
