Monday, October 26th, 2009

The 350 hp Genesis Coupe by GReddy Performance Parts will be shown at this year’s SEMA show.

Hyundai announced to reveal the most powerful Genesis Coupe, which will be converted for the show by Rhys Millen Racing.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe is being fitted with the 4.6-liter Tau V8 by Rhys Millen Racing, from Genesis sedan to develop the RM460 Genesis Coupe.

The powered mid-engine’s configuration and enhancements create a 500-horsepower sports car, which has a top speed of 182 mph (292 km/h).

The Tau V8 placed in the middle of the Genesis Coupe’s architecture will improve vehicle handling, acceleration and braking and enhance the already dynamic driving experience, according to Rhys Millen.

The mid-positioned Tau V8-enigne has no original back-seat. There is a rear glass hatch conversion for better access to the engine.

Mendeola five-speed sequential gearbox replaced the stock transmission. Stock suspension is upgraded with a KW coilovers.

The RM460 Genesis Coupe rides 20-inch wheels wrapped with Toyo T1R tires and an industry-leading high-performance braking system by StopTech.

The RMR RM460 Genesis Coupe exterior will feature a RMR Signature Edition kit, a carbon fiber spoiler and custom carbon fiber rear hatch.

The vehicles interior will have Sparco Chrono sports seats, Sparco Alcantara and carbon fiber interior panels, and Infinity Kappa Perfect Speakers and power amplifier.

Auto Design: Mazda Design Boss Pushing for New RX-7

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Mazda’s design boss is working hard to convince company executives to build a successor to the RX-7. He has even gone so far as to create design sketches for the next generation sports car.

The Design Boss, Ikuo Maeda said in an interview that the car would be a two-seater and like it’s predecessors, it would be powered by a rotary engine.

Mazda has been without a halo car since the third generation vehicle ceased production in 2002. The RX-8 was brought to market shortly thereafter, but as a significantly more pedestrian sports car.

Rumors of a reborn RX-7 have circulated for years and Mazda has recently been experimenting with dedicated sports concepts.

Maeda said at the Tokyo Motor Show, that the carmaker is eager to return to the high powered sportscar segment and that he has already begun designing a new RX-7.

Maeda said that a new RX-7 would likely stick with a two-seat layout, and, would likely be powered with a rotary engine. No mention was made of forced induction.

Maeda also wants to rejuvenate the entire Mazda line-up, and is focusing on attracting “enthusiastic” customers and pushing the brand up market by addressing the quality of the company’s interiors.

If Maeda’s vision goes as planned, we’re likely to see the concept car sometime in 2010.
