Tundra Midnight Rider Tailgater

The customized Tundra presented at SEMA Show is the Midnight Rider Tundra Tailgater by Brooks & Dunn, a vehicle that will be used by Brooks & Dunn in the upcoming 2010 farewell tour.

The concept car is based on the Tundra CrewMax Limited full-size 4×2 V8 pickup and features a bed-installed 42-inch flat screen TV and sound system by Kicker.

The Tundra Midnight Rider Tailgater features a custom black paint treated with silver metallic flakes, a custom western-engraved silver door handles, a front grille adorned with a chrome Brooks & Dunn logo steer skull, a chrome-accented steer skull tailgate handle, and a hand-tooled black saddle leather-trim tonneau cover surrounded with custom Brooks & Dunn silver conchos. It sits on 20-inch Mickey Thompson “Classic Lock” polished aluminum wheels with 35-inch Mickey Thompson “Claw” off-road tires.

The sound system features a dual subwoofer system and a separate amp, four two-way speakers with tweeters and separate crossovers, and dual two-channel amp with separate equalizers and speaker control units.

The interior features a Toyota navigation system, and rear seat entertainment.

In addition to celebrating 20 years of great music, the vast exposure of the Tundra Tailgater at the 2009 SEMA Show and the Brooks & Dunn farewell concert tour allows Toyota the opportunity to gauge consumer reaction towards the various interior treatments and bed utility, which can help influence future design possibilities.

Next Generation Jaguar: Baby Jaguar on the prowl

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Carparazzi, are the best indications yet of what the much-talked about Jaguar XE will look like if and when it finally finds its way into showrooms.

The new model is a spiritual successor to the iconic E-Type, which would give the Leaping Cat a rival for the likes of the Porsche Boxster and Aston Martin Vantage V8.

There is now speculation that a coupe could also be in the planning, but while firm details remain hard to come by at this stage there are leaks beginning to appear.

Instead of the oval opening made famous by the original E Type, one certainty appears to be the adoption of the rectangular grille from the XF and XJ, but the designers were also finding it too difficult to get the oval grille to work with the rest of the car’s design, forcing the change.

The new car’s power is expected to come from the company’s existing portfolio but could eventually spawn hybrid or possibly all-electric versions. The Conventional power will come from the 3.0-litre V6 and 5.0-litre V8.

The company is considering reviving the largely forgotten R-D6 Concept from 2003 as a competitor to the BMW 5 Series GT and Audi A5 Sportback. There is even the possibility of a wagon variant of the XF on the cards as well.
